    Dementia Practice Guideline Courses

This evidence-based practice guide provides a reliable approach to positive behaviour change in dementia care settings. Aimed at practicing therapeutic recreation specialists who work with older adults, this guide includes screening and assessment tools as well as 76 evidenced-based intervention protocols.

We recommend a non-pharmacological approach before psychoactive medications are prescribed, as therapeutic recreation can often change behaviours more effectively and without negative side effects. Our hope is that this guide will improve the lives of older adults with dementia by providing a standardized approach to therapeutic recreation intervention.
